COLORFUL KENTE COLLECTION
The inspiration for my patterns comes from all kinds of cultures around the world. My first collection was inspired by the weaving art of the Kente. The colors and shapes inspired me to design a version 2.0 of the ancient traditional versions. I did not have any intension to change the deep meanings or to abuse the traditional patterns. Kente has been an inspiration to me to design and experiment as an artist with colors and abstract motives to create new digital patterns.
COLORFUL KENTE VERSIONS
The collections are offered both mixed and composed in individual colours. There is a colorful version consisting of the 4 elements water, earth, air and fire. The four elements are the primal principles from which everything is built. They are the components of the reality that surrounds us, of our nature. Earth, water, air and fire, or else also matter, feeling, ratio and decisiveness.
These ancient elements are the guideline for the color nuances that I use and combine in the patterns. This gives the patterns both balance and unity. Within the collection there are four side color schemes available: natural, pastel, colorless and very colorful Kente. Examples of these colors schemes are shown as part of the portfolio. In my blog you can read more about the backgrounds and meaning of the traditional Kente Patterns.
